When God speaks

Today was the last day of prep before the conference starts tomorrow. Lucky for me, the conference organizers are so well organized that I got to meander around Cape Town a bit today. No agenda. No tourist destinations. I knew some fun streets to walk around on, so that’s where I headed. After a lot of walking, I grabbed a coke (with real sugar, yum) and ice cream and sat down overlooking Greenmarket Square - a bustling place where merchants from around the country come to sell different crafts - some beautiful, some junk and some beautiful junk (literally, they reuse everything here and make necklaces, bracelets, artwork, toys, etc. out of old magazines, coke cans…). I was pooped. For an hour, I probably sat, journaled and prayed. I have been frustrated admittedly, and I can’t exactly tell you why. Frustrated that the church is divided on issues, frustrated that there are still questions, frustrated that followers of Christ (including me) aren’t like Christ most of the time. And then something happened. The women who had rung me up the hour earlier for that coke and ice cream came over to my table and asked me where I was from. Then, I asked her where she was from: “Turkey” she said. With that, we talked and talked. She was in SA learning English. Her mom wanted her to come home. She wants to go to university once she speaks English better. We eventually closed the place down. We planned on getting together for breakfast tomorrow or on my free day on Thursday. Please pray for her. And, a HUGE thank you for your prayers - for healing and whatever else you have prayed for. I heard loud and clear from God this afternoon: I am real, I know you, I will do whatever it takes to remind you that I love you, now go…you are blessed to be a blessing to the nations. What a sweet, sweet reminder. With every fiber in my being, I know THAT meeting on a corner cafe was not an accident.
